One of the newcomers on the block and possibly the closest restaurant to Golden 1 Center, is the Irish pub Malt & Mash. They have a host of TV’s, walls adorned with Irish culture and a superb basket of fish and chips. The location is literally a stones through away from the Golden 1 Center and you can see the arena from Malt & Mash. This makes it the perfect place to grab a pint with some friends before a King’s game.

This is “adulting”! Walls lined with pinball machines, life-size Jenga and Connect 4. There’s also classic arcade games from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Time Crisis. Oh, did we not mention that they have delicious food and dozens of beers on tap?! You’ll enjoy the various pizzas that can be ordered by the slice or whole. The beers range from well known domestics to local brews. Get ready to feel like a kid again.

Former Sacramento King Kenny Thomas is the man behind this new establishment. With a name that throws back to not only the fight to keep the Sacramento Kings in town but also to Kenny’s playing days, El Rey on K is a modern take on Mexican street cuisine. Tacos are the name of the game at this restaurant with options offering more traditional flavors like chili lime chicken to more exotic options such as spicy peanut shrimp. Often open until 2:00 am, El Rey is known to transform into a club by night.

Loud but in the best way possible. Pizza Rock does not shy away from being an “in your face” dining experience. It features a DJ booth and semi-truck exploding through a brick wall right in the middle of the dining room! Look up and you’ll find a unique recreation of a very famous Michelangelo mural. Don’t let the Ed Hardy look fool you; they put out some of the very best pizzas that Sacramento has to offer.
